I'm not spending any fucking money on a bracelet, so, just as a warning, don't tag me or you will regret it. [ She may not look particularly intimidating but what she lacks in physical prowess, she more than makes up for by being filled with rage and an impressive amount of teenage passive aggressiveness. She gives a rough shake of her head, annoyed, rolling her eyes. ] This shit just seems like a good way to get punched.
[ Huff puff. Debbie Downer here is not into this shit, ok.
She may or may not be bored at work, as well, so if you're in the neighborhood for some alcohol in a dimly lit dingy bar (that didn't bother with getting a sign, so markers away), please come annoy the new bartender. She can be found leaning on the scuffed counter, scrolling through her phone with a perpetual sour expression on her face. Please don't ask for anything too complicated because she'll just make it up and you won't be happy. ]

No. Fuck, no. Hence the warning. [ A pause. ] Not to mention, I don't really feel like I should have to wear some shitty bracelet as a way to say Don't use that hot pink vomit marker on me please; it should be a fucking given. People should have to sign up for shit like this and they should have to wear the stupid thing.
[ She could be trying to make some point but, really, she's just bitching. Someone doesn't know how to have fun. ]
no subject
[Come on, have fun, dear.]
no subject
not to mention: eternal salt, she is. ]
Why would you bother? [ Earnestly curious. Really. Marker tag could (would) be fun with a small group of friends, maybe over the course of a single day, at a birthday party but otherwise? Nah. ]

[It's in his nature. It's about exploiting speed and skill and about situational awareness. It's his favorite sort of exercise. Too bad one of his friends cheats with super speed.]

Oh yes, but not as unfair as Tommy does. He's a speedster. But I'm really excited now that you've told me about it.
no subject
Speedster sounds like a drug term, don't know a Tommy, but I'm glad someone is excited for this. Though, I think you'll enjoy it less when you're covered in ink that won't come off. [ Imagine the fun art you can put on sleeping people. ]

[He's been through worse, so he'll be fine with the colors.]

[But that's a magic thing.]

So, who're you? I'm Heather Mason. [ She was not creative at all when it came to her UN. ]

Kinda trippy, to be honest. [ Yeah, about as trippy as otherworlds and monsters and robotic overlords that kidnap people from various universes and shit. Jesus, what is their life? ]
So, you arrived here with friends? [ There's a soft, quiet hint of envy in her voice; her heart hurts. ] Any thoughts as to why?
no subject
I arrived here with siblings, friends, and my boyfriend. But we were captive. So I guess maybe we were already disconnected from our worlds and more easily taken.
[And Nida definitely counts as more disconnected, given how his world went through Time Compression.]
no subject
You guys were captive? [ Her voice is edged with curiosity, maybe even a layer of concern, but she seems to realize just how prying that could be; everyone's got demons in their past and she's not a fan of drudging up her own or those of others. ] If you don't mind me asking about it. It's cool if not.
no subject
[Ah, Nida has missed the simpler things in life. The not having to fight dopplegangers and the lack of fireflies that could make you feverish and moths that made you forget things. Yeah, he'll pass on the Village.]
Things like that were pretty common back there.

[For now it would be enough.]

[What were the words for it? How can you break cities down in understandable ways? Deling was one of the few back home that needed it, and they described districts by what was in them.]
I think he called it 'Manhattan'. I think that's a city inside a city? I don't know, Earth sounds weird.
no subject
Yeah, some of the larger cities on Earth kind of divide themselves up. I think it has to do with how large the populations usually are. NYC is huge, drove up there once to try the pizza. [ There's a little warmth now to her tone. ] The pizza alone is a good reason to give the city a visit, even if some of the people are dicks.
no subject
I've met terrible people before. But I've never had good pizza. Just passable. Curry, that's where it's at.
no subject
I've never had curry, actually. I can't really see it being better than a good slice of pie, though.
no subject
[Apparently that's a thing where he's from, and Nida always adored it.]
So, if you're from Earth but not New York, where in the world there are you from?
no subject
Nowhere, really. [ Liar. ] My dad and I traveled a lot for his work so I spent a lot of time in a lot of cities but never one place for too long. Nothing exciting, honestly. Eventually, all American cities end up being the same unless they're one of the 'big ones'.
[ Only if you don't have a social life and exist solely at home, school, or the local mall. ] Is it like that where you come from?
