(( ooc: set after the robot shenanigans and the avocado uprising. responses might come from either or both of them; let us know if you have a preference! ))

[ in all honesty, they haven't gotten far. aqua is sure they really haven't. but somehow in their decision to explore a little of the world outside the bounds of the city they have gotten themselves turned around. and without their gliders fully functioning, well... finding their way has proven more difficult than usual.

uncharacteristically, they have both been out of touch with friends and acquaintances and aqua doesn't even think to use the network, mostly because the most important person in any world is right here with her. eventually, though, it dawns on her that maybe they should at least check in with their friends, let everyone know that they haven't disappeared.

so it is with that in mind that she starts up a video on the network, with ven somewhere nearby. the backdrop is the forest. where in the forest? nobody really knows. they sure don't. but aqua at least looks apologetic when she appears on screen. ]

Looks like we lost a bit of time. Sorry to anyone who might have worried about us. Ven and I are fine.

[ she glances to the side at ven, leaving it open for him to respond if he wants. ]

[Aqua might blame herself, but Ven knows he carries a share of it, too. They both messed up here; they'll both deal with the consequences. So he doesn't hide when Aqua finishes her piece, reaching out to grab her phone from her and give a wave and a sheepish smile into it.]

Sorry, guys - I guess we aren't that great at directions here, at least not yet. If anyone's been worried, we're fine. Did we miss anything?

Where are you two?

[Naminé has been worried but also preoccupied with the chaos of both the avocado incident and the robots. She wants to learn to protect herself better but the two people she'd wanted to ask hadn't been around...]

Are you really alright?

Umm, I'm not entirely sure... can't be more than a few miles from the city. We wanted to try some things, and...

[Ven lets his words trail off with a half-shrug, because there's a lot of little things wrapped up in it, and it's something he'd rather talk to Naminé face to face. She deserves that, after all.]

[But the concern gets a smile; he doesn't know her extremely well, but he does know that tone.] We're fine, I promise. And it's been pretty fun, in a lot of ways! I'm sorry we left you, though.

It's alright.

[She smiles back at him.]

I just miss you. [A beat.] That is both of you. A lot has been happening here. I don't know if you've heard...

Heard what? We thought that maybe something happened, since we were gone longer than we planned to be, but if you're asking then it must've been pretty big.

[Should he be concerned? He's starting to feel like he should be concerned, and that's starting to reflect in his expression.]

Are you okay? And everyone else?

I think so but I don't know about everyone.

We lost contact with each other and there was a storm and...

[Her voice trails off and she suddenly feels unsure.]

There were copies of us.

[And with that phrase, Ven drops the phone with a choked yelp. Considering... everything, that's not exactly and unreasonable reaction from him, nor is what he asks after he retrieves it.]

[That takes a moment though, because that was not a shock he was prepared for and he dropped it into some rocks; a few seconds of scrambling for the phone later, he has it back in his hands and is turning it so he can see the screen again. Naminé might not be surprised to see the serious look of worry on his face.]

Vanitas?

I... I don't know.

[She doesn't recognize that name.]

I didn't see anyone by another name but I saw myself.

[There is obviously more that she is not saying but she doesn't know how. Naminé doesn't want to make him worry and it seems as if she's already doing that.]

[Any time "copies of people" or something like that are mentioned, he's going to worry. It's something that's had too much of an effect on what he can remember of his life to not worry. She didn't see Vanitas, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there.]

[But for the moment that doesn't matter, since it's obvious something else is bothering her, and he can't just let that sit.]

Naminé? What is it?

I saw a copy of me but... It wasn't me.

They wanted to hurt us.

What did they do?

[He doesn't want to know, but ...he does, really. He's not known too much in his life; it's beyond time to learn as much as he can.]

I don't know. I ran and others fought. But the copies were trying to kill us... Maybe replace us.

I'm not sure. I'm sorry Ven. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it.

No, you definitely should have, this is something we need to hear. I didn't think...

[He trails off, looking off to the side deep in thought, a hand rising to rub at the back of his head in a habitual gesture. There's a lot of emotion passing over his face, but most of it can be classed as some form of worry, concern, and even... anger, in a way.]

[Finally he looks back at the phone again, still solemn.]

Was anyone hurt? Do they need healing? We can get back as fast as possible and help with that.

There are some healing here and I've tried my best to help.

It isn't... so bad but there were some hurt.

[Most have been bandaged up.]

There are many strong warriors here.

That's good. If people are mostly okay-

[Again he cuts himself off, but this time it doesn't last nearly as long before he shakes his head as if to clear it.]

I'm sorry we weren't there to help. It sounds like it was... pretty awful. We'll be back as soon as we can, okay?

Right.

[She pauses briefly and then asks.]

When will you and Aqua be back Ven? I... I feel better when you guys are here.

[She feels safer.]

Tomorrow morning at the latest, maybe earlier than that. I don't want to stay out here any longer with copies of people running around.

[Of course, they have to get themselves pointed in the right direction first, but he's willing to jump out of a tree to do that. At least he won't get hurt if he does it, unlike other people.]

[Ven takes a deep breath and lets it out, pulling his mind back to its 'center' like the Master always wanted.]

When we get back, we'll start really working on training with you, so you can know more to defend yourself. How does that sound?

I don't think there are any left. So everyone is safe. You should stay safe to Ven.

[Naminé puts on a smile and nods.]

I'd like that. I'd like to be able to help.

Right now it sounds like I'm a lot safer than you guys. And that's not really the way it's supposed to be.

[Considering the Keyblade Mastery training and all. Path to herodom and a ...very interesting life.]

[He still has things to learn that Aqua can teach him, even though their abilities are very limited in this world. But it shouldn't be hard to bring Naminé in as well, and he can help Aqua teach her the basics. Maybe thet can find out if she can use a Keyblade.]

[ yeah. she deserved that one. she ducks her head for a second, looking as apologetic as she can when she finally responds. ]

[ she knows he has to have been worried about her disappearing, but if more things have happened since she was last in the city... ]

[Which is really upsetting. She's one of his closer friends. Not to mention his roommate they look after each other damn it.]

[ she can imagine how upsetting it must have been for seifer to suddenly not be able to find her. they've been through a lot together and at this point, she should have reached out to him sooner. that one is on her and she will work harder not to do this again. ]

[It's been pretty bad. He was sure she wasn't coming back. Nightmares only got worse without another person around.]

[ aqua pans the phone around behind her a little, just so cissie can see the backdrop of trees. they really aren't honestly that far away from the city. they just did an epic job of getting totally lost. ]

It's okay, but--have you really been out in the woods this whole time?

Yeah, you both definitely missed out on some shit. [ her voice is rough, worn or damaged. she'd worried for a time before she assumed something awful happened to them. ] I'd say it's a good thing, though.

Are you okay, Heather? You sound like you've been sick or... something else.

[Because given what she ends with, it's obvious Something Bad Happened and he's not about to let her suffer in silence if he can help it.]

[ Heather isn't certain what is all right for her to say and she hesitates. ]

You and Aqua all right? You were gone for a while. [ She knows what Aqua said, but, fuck, after everything that's happened? She's just double checking, a sure sign she does care. ]

[He's intelligent enough to pick up that something's definitely not being said, not that Heather says all that much normally anyway. It's just not her style. But there's still a difference between reticence and I don't want to say this, and it definitely feels like the second. Best to make sure, though.]

Are you better now? We can try and help when we get back, we shouldn't be later than the morning, I think.

We're fine, but we're getting tired of camping food. We're sorry for worrying you, though.
