Okay, I'm getting a bit tired of coming into the kitchens in the dorms and running into the scent of charred food. So I'm doing something. I'm offering cooking lessons for people still in the dorms. Or I will if there is suitable interest.
I can definitely get suggestions for what people want to learn to cook, so I will also take requests for recipes.

'Course I can.
[He's assuming that's a request. So he'll head over to go wash his hands and get started.]
How many you need?

[Frankly, he doesn't look up because the knife moves rapidly, with the sort of skill reserved for chefs at busy restaurants. It's not until his hands are fully safe and the chopping done that he looks up at Seifer and. Pauses. Huh. His eyes give Seifer a quick once-over because, in a way, the guy reminds him of Teddy, but with a harder edge. And the scar. Then he pushes that away and offers a smile.]
David. I marinaded some of this yesterday too, so we'll cook that in a bit. But I want to get the next set for tomorrow done. I mean, what else was I going to with the margarita mix, tequila, and triple sec?
[Apparently not make actual margaritas.]

[Specific instructions, please. He'll get to work on that orange in the meantime. Seifer's not paying attention to David anymore, so he certainly doesn't notice the once over. Not that he's not a little accustomed to them, he gets those looks fairly often not that he entirely realizes what they're about. Too off in his own little world.
At the introduction he does glance over and offer a nod.]
Seifer. [A beat.] Most people might suggest margaritas.
[He offers wryly. Personally, though, he agrees that chicken is a pretty good choice.]

Sorry. It's a quarter cup of orange juice and a quarter cup of lime. But I mean, if you're old enough, I can make you a margarita once we get the the chopping done. Of course, I'm not going to card you if you promise not to leave the building.
[What? He's not the police.]
Thing is? I love the taste of it this way more. The combination with savory is lovely.

[Orange first, then he'll make some lime, and David can do whatever he needs with either. At the offer he makes a thoughtful sound.]
I wouldn't say no to a drink.
[He might not be 21 yet, but come on, that's a strange and arbitrary age. If he's old enough to lead an army surely he's old enough for a margarita at his own apartment.]
I ain't goin' anywhere tonight. Just down here for dinner, and to see how those... what were you gonna make again? Cherry somethin'?
no subject
Cherry tarts. Tell you what. I can finish the marinade for tomorrow later. If you'll finish those and then get out a glass, I'll make you a margarita. Sorry that they don't have the proper sort of glasses here. And I didn't buy margarita salt. But it will be functional enough. And then we can do some tarts so you can see how those work.

Can do. [He promises he won't ask for more than one, not with how things went with Nida. He knows that slope would be just as slippery for him, if not worse.] Eh, any glass'll do. Not like I'd know any better.
[They don't get to enjoy themselves before they go off to war to die, after all.]
Lookin' forward to learnin' that. Never really done much baking.
[Any? Any baking. Pancakes don't count.]
no subject
[Pancakes totally count in David's book. But for now he moves to collect a glass and pulls the bottles of liquor out from hiding. He measures them out freehand, but he knows it's exact. He's just experienced.]
I don't recommend drinking too much of this, especially if you haven't been drinking too often. And have water too. So it doesn't hit you as hard.

[Shows how familiar Seifer is with more modern baking. That wasn't an option back in the village. He gets to work scrubbing down a surface for David. Good news is it'll be spotless by the time he's done, cleaning is something he's capable at.
Pancakes only half count, as they're pan fried not baked.]
Just the one. I ain't gonna go crazy.
[Don't worry so much, David, he's more interested in the food portion of the evening.]
no subject
[He does finish the drink with a bit of a flourish before sliding it over to Seifer.]
You can also get pre-made filling. They tend to not be nearly as good tasting. But they are easy.
no subject
[His shopping experience is even more limited than his cooking experience. Who knew you could get pre-made everything? That'd cut down on time. Heh, Seifer does smirk a bit at the flare, ever one to appreciate some theatrics.]
Guess if you just wanna make something quick it works.
We can ftb here if you want
Sounds good
[It's clear he's teasing by the amused expression he wears. Once he's had a good sip of his margarita he'll be ready for the cooking lesson. Teach him the ways of baking, David!]
