[The video feeds open on a human man. His features are sharp and regal, but there's no haughtiness or hostility to them. His long hair flows down well past his shoulders, and a well-groomed beard highlights the lines of his jaw ... but more than any of that, what will jump out immediately is that he's in rough shape.

[His cheeks are sunken, his skin looks pale, and there are dark rings under his eyes. There are a few fresh cuts on his face, including one that runs along his cheekbone that's highlighted by a purpling bruise.

[He's smiling though. It's a tired smile, one that clearly takes a bit of effort at the moment, but a smile nonetheless.]

Hello to anyone who might be listening. My name is Orren Organa - of the Jedi Order, should that mean anything to any you. From what I understand of our current situation, though, I understand that it might not.

[He sighs and tucks an errant lock of hair behind his ear.]

That same situation is why I'm putting out this call. The Head's information was ... helpful, but vague enough that I'm left with some questions about this place. I'd appreciate whatever insight that anyone who's been here longer can offer, and ... that's about it, really.

[A beat.]

Apologies for my appearance as well. I was in a bit of a rough spot before I was pulled here, but I'm quite alright.

[Or, at the very least, he will be. His connection to the Force is still as strong here as ever, and he can already feel it working to repair the damage to his body.]

I don't really think anyone has been here all that long, to be honest, but if you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them. I'm Aqua.

Yes. I don't think it's been more than a month for me yet. Though there are some people who seem to have been here longer. It's hard to say without asking everyone.

[Another Jedi? Holy cow, where are they coming from? Well, you know, other than space. Organa too, which says he's related to Leia maybe? Or maybe Leia just doesn't exist and that's really just a movie and oh wow his head hurts.

He turns on a video response and tries his best to smile at the Jedi on the video. Which of course doesn't go well. He's trying.]

Things are a bit complicated here, but I will say that this place is a bit difficult. But I've seen the body mods used to good effect. So you've got a chance at that, Mister Organa. Or, Orren?

Is... is there a rank I should call you?

David Alleyne. It's a pleasure to meet another from your realm. There's another Jedi here, I think you're in good company.

If you ever need help on technical issues with your lightsaber, let me know. I probably can't help you repair it, but I might be able to help with parts.

[Be honest, David. He just wants to be close to a lightsaber, see what they're like.]

[All David can do it nod briefly. Yes, another Jedi. However her name wasn't popping to mind. Now if only David's memory was as strong as it had been when he had his powers.]

Yes. A woman. I saw her in her robes.

Actually yes, it was.

[He doesn't mind the lack of focus. He's used to that coming in a few different forms. But he does stay quiet other than answering. Perhaps the man has something he's thinking about, and David doesn't intend to interrupt his train of thought.]

[Oh cool! Another Jedi. This is so amazing.]

Doesn't seem like too much of a rough spot.

So, I've been kidnapped to places like this before. Frankly? They'll find a way to make this super miserable and awkward and maybe drag up your worst fears or memories. Hope you're ready for a ride.

Of course. Pick your topic, Master Jedi, and I'll happily explain whatever you need, right? Or I'll try to.

Let's start with some weird people we referred to as the Overseers brought a group of people to a village with no power, barely any running water, no medical supplies. Pretty back end stuff. This is an upgrade.

Totally separate. I hope. But a lot of us came from that same place we were captive. So it might be associated.

[personal profile] skyward_eyes 2019-07-17 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, three. I had a friend who was in another place before the village we ended up in.

[Which means there are just people out there who ENJOY DOING THIS. And if that isn't the biggest mess, he doesn't know what is. It's like the Sorceress, someone or ones with power, giving themselves authority over others when they didn't deserve it.]

Frankly, given everything, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a whole syndicate of races or entities that do this to people. We're just the ones lucky enough to end up in this particular place and time.

For a given definition of 'lucky' I suppose.

[Perhaps three isn't common place. Perhaps they're just very rare people.]

[When she sees the username, Revan doesn't even bother playing the message. She turns within to listen to the Force, teasing out one specific, familiar mind from the hum of life in the city. It might have been beyond even her, except Orren glows in the Force like a sunrise.

He's close. Maybe she makes the decision or maybe the Force does, but either way, she's moving, an aimless stroll through the city turned into a purposeful sprint, only uncanny Jedi reaction time keeping her from bowling over other pedestrians. She comes barreling around a corner, only a little out of breath.]

Orren?

[Revan's answering expression is a grimace that takes over her face involuntarily when Orren greets her by her false identity.

This conversation was inevitable. Best get it out of the way, and if it taints the reunion, so be it.]

You know my real name.

[She leans ever so slightly on "real." Revan hasn't got it in her to pretend she's not angry, the revelations aboard the Leviathan an as-yet unhealed wound. She's doing her best not to let it fester, but she won't act like it doesn't still hurt.]

[personal profile] therevanchist 2019-07-17 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Revan takes a deep breath that's not the result of her sprint. She is not going to yell at Orren.

Well, probably.]

Were you in on it?

[The question almost has a pleading note to it. As much as she wants a target for her ire, she doesn't truly want it to be Orren. His involvement strikes her as unlikely, against everything he's ever shown her about himself, but even the slight possibility tugs at her, turning her stomach, souring what should be a happy moment.

Revan can understand how her past self fell, really. The dark side will seep into any crevice, freezing and cracking a soul like winter's ice. She can feel it trying now. The Mandalorian Wars must have provided it so many opportunities.]

[Revan's shoulders slump as the tension she hadn't realized was there drains away. What would she have done if he'd said yes?]

Orren, I-- [She stops and shakes her head.] Let's not have this conversation standing in the street.

[She takes the last few steps up to him and, standing in the street or no, pulls him into an embrace. Going on tiptoes puts her mouth reasonably close to his ear, so she can speak without fear of being overheard.]

Thank you.

[It's been a rough time for all of them, even if Revan doesn't remember most of it.

She looks around and spots a cafe, conveniently indicated by a sign featuring a steaming mug and some kind of pastry. Midafternoon, they should have their pick of tables.]

C'mon. [She tugs Orren's arm, starting towards the little restaurant.] Caf and carbohydrates.

[Revan, meanwhile, has some kind of cream-covered abomination that must be at least half sugar by volume...and that's just the drink. She stabs it with the straw a few times, mixing in some of the whipped cream and taking out some of her frustrations simultaneously.]

I don't know where to start. I don't suppose they told you what the hell they were thinking.

[She can feel his trepidation through the Force, and frankly, she doesn't feel up to doing the work it would take to reassure him. "It's okay" would be a lie, anyway, and they both know it.]

I remember the strike team.

[Revan's eyes go distant as she replays one of the only scraps of memory she has.]

...I was winning.

[Rather than Revan's usual smugness about victory, she just sounds haunted. If the fight had gone on a little longer, she'd have killed Bastila.]
