UN: presage

This may come as a rather unusual request. While I am aware there are but a few remaining souls, perhaps one or more of you may be able to assist me in the acquisition of some essential tools to aid me in my research.

-Crystal sphere, the greater the clarity the better.

-Disc of polished obsidian, also known as an obsidian mirror.

-Solid bowl of dark, non reflective material. Black is preferential, but not mandatory. Ideally formed of stone or wood.

-The location where I may obtain a quantity of candles.


Any information or guidance is appreciated.

[Actually this one he does know! Ever since that movie fear of murderous AI and Skynet has become something of a human theme. One must be ever adaptable when it comes to methods of torment.]

Points for creativity, I suppose.

[A faint breeze as he beat his wings to help lift himself back to his feet before raising a hand to shine a light out for them both so that Jack could find her phone. No, he hadn't bothered to put the wings away, rather too late for that.]

That was me, I'm afraid.

[And the culprits were huge, no wonder he accidentally knocked her over. No one ever quite manages to paint the wings right, they'd never fit reasonably on a canvas.]

[jack takes a moment to marvel at those wings before climbing to her feet, because they sure are something.]

Wow ... so how do you keep those from being seen? Invisibility cloak? Jacket of Holding?

[she dusts her hands off on her jeans and retrieves the phone, giving it a good look-over. the screen protector's cracked, but she's got more at home. easy fix. the light still works, which is the important thing.]

[They certainly are! Long and narrow like those of a sea bird, pale blue-gray on top and white underneath. With just a hint of a reflective quality as though covered in a thin layer of frost. Near the shoulder however they appeared to be stained with blood, not quite as pristine as the other feathers.]

Ah, [He smiled, amused.] nothing quite so exciting as that. Being not wholly physical I can simply choose to have them out, or not. Although this was... accidental. Defense mechanism.

[Wing bash your assailants. He does watch to ensure her phone hadn't been too damaged in the surprise.]

Fair enough. [no harm, no foul, as far as she's concerned.] Next time I'll know to stand back farther.

[assuming there is a next time, of course. but jack wouldn't mind it at all. she's enjoyed this excursion quite a lot. murmur's interesting, and she wouldn't be opposed to hanging out with him again.]

[Once he had himself stabilized well enough he stretched his wings briefly before absorbing them back to wherever it is he usually keeps them hidden. Now the gloves go back on, before he accidentally has another episode.]

I perhaps should have warned you that could be a reaction, my apologies for my lack of foresight.

[Which is... kind of funny all things considered. But she might not get the joke. Evidently he was not opposed to her coming along on further adventures? Now that he had his wits about him he offered a nod.]

I did. I will require some time to meditate and pick apart the information I have gathered, but I believe I should be able to adequately analyze the magic systems in place here.

[And once he understands it he can replicate it, possibly even improve upon it.]
