Hello kiddos.

[Doc Yewll has the camera aimed at the flowers in her little nursery in the back of her clinic. She shifts position to lean on a shelf full of what looks like flats of grasses.]

I think I've worked out a healthy selection here that I can use to build up my pharmacy for the fleshy meat and bone types. But I got a problem. Bear with me.

[She turns the camera to a shelf of various liquids. Thirium. Something that's bright pink. Another conductive silver mess. An arrangement of tools, too.]

I need more supplies for cybernetic repair. A lotta people with mods. A lotta people that are robots or androids. I need to be able to patch 'em up long enough to get to a technician for permanent repairs because, let's be real, those are parts that can't heal.

[On most people, anyway.]

[She turns the camera back towards her scaly, pale head, looking as earnest as she possibly can. Which is sort of her default look. Joy and levity are a foreign language to this hard face.]

So, if you can build me some of my tech requests or do a supply run for me? I'll reimburse you. I got a list of raw chemicals I need- Please. No milk jugs. Real storage, thanks. If you're gonna get inventive at least make it a growler.

[She says this like it's been a problem in the past. And it has. Thanks, battle-weary post alien invasion apocalyptic world.]

And if you're pretty good at building or modifying stuff? I have some particular requests for scanners. Ultrasounds, EEGs, MRIs, 'X-Ray's all reduced in size and optimized for safety. I've got some specs and basic materials already gathered up. [Most of the tech here is meant to hide those chips or mechanical parts she's heard about from newcomers. But she wants to fiddle with some enough to see it. And medical treatment? Valid excuse to mess with some supplies.]

Aw, those are pretty. [Right. Business.]

Shoot me a list, I'll see what I can come up with. Long as you don't ask too many questions about where it comes from.

Oh yeah, totally. Totally legit. I'm totally innocent. [Uh huh sure.]

Hey, maybe we'll get lucky. [Ha.] I should be able to get most of it for you.

[It's at least a little encouraging that someone is concerned about the synthetics like her. She'd mostly figured people were generally distrustful of them.]

I may be able to assist, provided the appropriate materials are available.

They should be easy enough to modify. [They're probably not even close to level of technology EDI is accustomed to. Or is.]

I may. This frame is highly specialized and I have my doubts that there are adequate repair facilities should something happen to it.

[kiddos, huh.]

Don’t doctors usually have high school candy stripers for this kind of fetching?

I'm pretty good at finding useful things accidentally, sooo I could probably do a good job finding useful things on purpose.

[That is to say, he's offering his services to help get her supplies. It's something to do, and sounds like it's for a good cause. That's really the only convincing he needs.]

[He wouldn't argue the 'kinda creepy but great to have around' part at all. In fact, he doesn't. Instead he gives a nod of his head and the 'ok' sign with his hand.]

I can do that. The uh, raw potassium and manganese stuff might be a little outta my league, though. Not even sure what it looks like.

Shit, I'll remember that.

[And he will, judging by his appreciative tone. He really likes to learn new things and is always grateful for anyone willing to explain...well, anything.]

Oh, it's a prosthetic.

[He cuts the explanation off there, though. He's okay explaining that much, but anything beyond that is too painful a memory to dredge up, especially considering he recently had to relive it beyond those weird doors. Still, his tone is not bothered by the question.]

[He pauses, if only because he's slightly taken aback.]

Thanks for the offer, but it only hurts sometimes. Not a big deal. [He pauses yet again though, rubbing the back of his head, fingers brushing against the straps that cause his mask to shift from the action.] But...I kinda get these really bad migraines I used to take medication for. Do you have anything for that?

[He doesn't like to take his other medications, but the ones for his migraines he definitely doesn't know what he'd do without. Well, suffer, he supposes.]
sallyfaced: (no lunch meat please)

[personal profile] sallyfaced 2020-02-27 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome, thanks. They usually come on once every couple of days. Or if I get too stressed, I guess.

[Or when some supernatural fuckery is afoot, like post-weird vision, but it's easier to leave that out.]

I had to have a prescription back home.
sallyfaced: (sometimes i just want to scream)

[personal profile] sallyfaced 2020-03-03 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Human-brand migraines. Uh, mostly.

[He's not even sure if he qualifies as 'human' anymore, but he sure feels like it when he gets one of those migraines. But that's besides the point...he should probably mention the other thing.]

Also, sometimes I get weird visions and my head feels like it's going to explode after. But my doctor didn't know about that.
sallyfaced: (that was mildly alarming)

[personal profile] sallyfaced 2020-03-03 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He pauses for two reasons. One, those were all very specific, but he supposes he shouldn't be too surprised by that one, and two, stopping by a clinic or hospital just to get some medication is one thing but staying for scans and actual medical work is not something he really wants to do.

He doesn't like hospitals or clinics. He has to force himself to go into them back home. He remembers when his dad had to hold his arm like a child to get him to go get a basic check up. He was seventeen.]

I'm...pretty sure I don't?
sallyfaced: (The fires open flame)

[personal profile] sallyfaced 2020-03-05 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[For a moment it seems as if he's going to leave it at that. "Yes, I know what's causing it and it's not a doomsday device in my head so don't worry", but when the pause stretches out just enough he elaborates just a little.]

I've had them since I was a kid, after an accident. Luckily, I don't think I have an alien frontal lobe surge...thing. I mean, I'm pretty sure the migraines are separate from the...other weird stuff.

[Or whatever she said.]
sallyfaced: (it's just one of those days)

[personal profile] sallyfaced 2020-03-06 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be honest with you, I haven't a clue what's going on with me lately. I'm pretty sure I'm human, though. No allergies that I know of, so there's that.
