[After the whole "seeing other memories" problem, Clint doesn't exactly want to get on the network and make an announcement, but it's one that needs to be made. He compromises a little by waiting a few days to let everyone settle down again (and let the constant pressure in his head dissipate), but eventually, after dinnertime one evening, he's making the broadcast. Because this is something that could save lives, and he's not going to actually voice his worry that these skills might be needed soon, but someone reading between the lines might be able to detect it.]

Well that was a mess. [He pauses, perhaps a bit more tired than he usually is, then continues.] After all ...that, whatever that was, I'm not sure how many of you need this, but I'm making the offer anyway. One of the jobs I picked up is teaching self-defense classes at a gym called Koenig Fitness and Recreation; you can get directions on your phones if you need them. These classes aren't really for trained fighters - they're supposed to teach people who don't have combat skills how to get out of bad situations if they get into one, so they don't get assaulted, robbed, any of those kinds of things. It looks like most of you can take care of yourselves, so you probably don't need it, but if anyone can't, come to the class and I'll slip you in for free. If you've got friends from here or coworkers who could use it, tell them about it so they can have some tricks up their sleeves.

And it looks like more's coming. The management's buzzing about having me teach more advanced stuff now that this's been going on for a few weeks, so I'm expecting that to start up pretty soon, once we figure out exactly what that's gonna be. If you've got any ideas about something you wanna look at, a fighting style or weapon form or whatever, talk to me and I can take it to them. If you want to teach or help teach something, I can talk to them about bringing you on. They're pretty reasonable people. They've also said we can use the gym as a practice space as long as no one's firing projectiles or using some kind of destructive magic or energy weapons once a week.

If anyone's got any questions, go ahead and ask them. I'm in room 502 if you want to talk in person and not over this.

I could help you teach. I used to give lessons in hand-to-hand, back in the place where I was stuck before.

[A distraction in multiple ways - Clint is 100% convinced that whatever brought them here knows all about them to begin with, and that the memory thing had been no accident. Or, more precisely, possibly an accident, but because of something they didn't want to tell their... guests about. Something their guests wouldn't like if they knew about it. But also this pulls the focus of whatever's watching them to a specific place, and that means a potential opening for a hidden facility if they aren't looking for it. Not to mention just keeping skills that need to stay sharp in practice anyway.]

I'd like to see how you fight and what you're like with students, but I'd be willing to give it a try. Most of the people here seem to be competent and need sparring partners more than anything.

I’m good for sparring, too. Kinda been missing that since I got here, actually. Not quite the same without my old partner, y’know?

[natasha was a good sparring partner, both physically and verbally. jason wonders silently what happened to her, if she’s still back in the village right now.]

But yeah, I can give you a demonstration if you want. At least one of my old students is here, he could prob’ly vouch for me, too.

Works for me. If he wants to come, bring your student with you. I'm thinking it'd be better for people to know more of this kind of stuff instead of less.

Squall skips responding on the network. He has no doubt their dorms are bugged anyway but it's better than having a record left on the network. He waits until the door opens. He's dressed in a pair of jeans and a v-heck sleeveless shirt. There's a tattoo on his upper left arm that looks like a lion on a shield. One hand resting loosely on his hips.

He's still doubtful about this guy but a space to practice is one he's interested in.

[Because the Jedi look isn't very cyberpunk and thus doesn't show up in shops in Dualis, Revan's had to switch from robes to normal-person clothes, though she's still gravitating to kimono closures and unpatterned neutral colors.]

Not the worst idea. I probably can't teach [Jedi martial arts don't transfer well to people who aren't space wizards] but I make a good training dummy.

I think you are not wrong about that. Gotta be prepared for anything and everything, right?

I'll probably come check it out. Can't say I'll commit but... [ She shrugs her shoulders. Look, she'll make some effort. She's always needed to learn more self-defense than aim and shoot but dad never had the time and it's not like she could attend any classes. ]
